The Chota Char Dham  is literally known as the small bodes of GOD . It means  "the circuit of four abodes is an important HINDU  PILGRIMAGE   circuit in the Indian Himalayas ." ,located in GARHWAL region of the state of UTTRAKHAND . The circuit consists of four sites __Yamunotri ,Gangotri ,Kedranath ,and Badrinath  Dhams .

KRISHAN JANAMASHTAMI

Krishna Janam  ashtami is also known as Gokul ashthami ,Shri Krishan Jayanti , is an annual celebration of thwe birth of the  Hindu Deity Krishana , the eightth avatar of Lord Vishnu .

Krishna was the  eighth son of   Rani Devaki  and Vasudev . Hindus celebrate Janamashtami  by 

fasting  and staying up until mid night ,the time when Krishan was born .Images of  krishan "s  infancy are placed  in swings and cradles in temples and in homes . At around mid night , devotees gather and sing dev otional songs ,perform dances and

 exchange gifts  ie .sweets .

 It is one of the famous festival of the HINDUS  .
 Shri Krishan is also known as Makhan Chor .

FESTIVALS OF INDIA

1 }HOLI

Holi is the festival of colours ,it is celebrated all over INDIA . People greet each other , eat sweets and foremost apply colour s and also apply gulal on each other .They also make and eat traditional sweets such as ghojia s etc. 

2}NAVRATRI:---is celebrated  with great enthusiasm  and pomp and show .On this day and for nine nights to come people keep fast and worship maa durga . To please HER  they perform the famous dandia dance as well .

3}GANESH CHATURTHI:-----is the celebration of the birth of the lord of prosperity ie . LORD GANESHA .It is celebrated with great joyin all over INDIA and with great enthusiasm in MAHARASHTRA ie .mumbai .In this festival we can see huge celebration  with elaborated crafted vand decorated statues of LORD GANESHA INSTALLED FOR 11 DAYS IN THEIR HOMES AS WELL IN THE  podiums 

4} RAKSHA BHANDHAN :---is the festivalof brothers and sisters .Sisters tie rakhi s on the wrist of their brothers  and brothers in return bestow them with expensive gifts  ,they make merry and eat traditional 

sweets .

5}ID --UL --FITR :----is the festival of the MUSLIMS .ID is celebrated  after a month long fasting ,and people perform NAMAZ every day .

6}BHAI DUJ :---is celebrated on the second day of DIWALI .Sisters apply beautiful TILAKS on the fore head of their brothers , and in return they get gifts from their brothers .

7}DIWALI :---is the festival of lights .It is celebrated with great enthusiasm . People make merry eat sweets ,burn crackers .

8 }CHRISTMAS :---Last but not the least  is the christmas festival ,which is celebrated on 25 th DECEMBER . People make merry ,eat traditional sweets and sing carols .

                                          On the whole we can say that INDIA is  a country of festivals 

LORD SHIVA AND HIS BIRTH STORY

According to Hindu Mythology Lord Shiva is considered as Supreme Authority .

तनो  रुद्र  प्रचोदयात "

Lord SHIVA is considered as a destroyer among the SUPREME GODS  ---BHARAMA , VISHNU  and SHIVA .In  fact there a very interesting story regarding HIS birth . One day Lord Bhrama and Lord Vishnu had an argument  regarding who was powerful among them .At that very moment one great blazing pillar appeared with roots and branches extended beyond view into the eart and the sky . Now both of them were amazed and started finding out the start as well as  the end of the pillar . Lord Bhrama  turned himself into a goose  and flew up in order to find the top of the pillar , while Lord VISHNU  turned into a boar and dug into the earth to look for its roots . After being unsuccessful bothcame back and saw that Lord Shiva emerged from that pillar . Recognizing SHIVA's  great powers they realizedthat there is the third power that ruled over the universe .
